Newfound Lake Wind Watch (NLWW) is a group of local landowners, homeowners and residents who oppose the construction of the wind turbines in the Alexandria New Hampshire area.

Although it is widely believed wind industrial energy is a viable solution to our nation’s energy problems, the facts tell us wind is an unreliable and undependable energy alternative. In addition, this industry poses serious long-term concerns for our local economy and individual land rights – and we must weigh these risks against any perceived benefits.

The NLWW is dedicated to informing the residents and landowners around Newfound Lake about the imminent threat of industrial windpower installations; and encouraging them to take a stand in protecting the intrinsic beauty, inherent value, and natural resources of our area.

Sample Letter of Objection

Hello ,

RE: Wild Meadows Wind Power Project - Alexandria, NH.

I write to strongly object to the above Wind Project and my reasons are as follows:

I have studied with interest the plans for the proposed wind turbines on the Wild Meadows site.

I have an interest in this area because I am a nearby resident, and I follow closely any proposed developments in our pristine countryside.

Almost all the developments in the area that I have been aware of have had to address some form of “visual amenity” issue and these are usually well considered by our town planning board, developers and planners alike.

However, when it comes to considering visual amenity in the case of the 37 wind turbines at Wild Meadows in Alexandria, no amount of tree planting or landscaping could possibly mitigate the massive visual effect that these structures will have in the local landscape. Not to mention the “Red Flashing Lights” at night glimmering across the lake.

This is of course due to the sheer size of the wind turbines, which is totally out of proportion to any existing natural feature or development in the area. The wind turbine would remain prominently visible for many miles in all directions. They will be seen from Mt. Cardigan, Ragged Mt. and throughout the Alexandria countryside and to residents on Newfound Lake.

For this reason alone the wind turbines should be rejected. Given that there are also no local environmental benefits from this turbine, there is no justification for approving this.

Please help me protect the cleanest lake in New Hampshire.

Yours faithfully,
